Card Trivia

This card has a counterpart; Mirror Force.
Shining Silver Force has a silver letter name (debuting as a Rare in Crimson Crisis) and Mirror Force (the counterpart for monsters) has a gold letter name (in all editions except the one from Dark Beginning 2). Though possibly coincidental, the opposition between gold and silver may embody the opposition in their effects.

Rulings

TCG Rulings

You can chain “Shining Silver Force” to a Trap Card your opponent activates that inflicts damage to themselves.: Crimson Crisis -- Card Rulings (version 2.0)

If a Trap Card that normally gives Life Points has been changed to a damage card by “Bad Reaction to Simochi”, you can activate “Shining Silver Force”.

You cannot chain “Shining Silver ForceThe Paths of Destiny).

You cannot chain “Shining Silver Force” to the activation of a card that does not inflict damage upon activation but will inflict damage in the future (like “Skull Invitation”).

You cannot chain “Shining Silver Force” to a card that shifts battle damage, like “Dimension Wall”.

OCG Rulings

The effect does not target.: Bending Destiny

It can be activated even during the Damage Step.

When a Trap Card that inflicts damage is activated, this card is activated directly in Chain to that activation.

Resolving "Negate the activation of that card" and "destroy it and all face-up Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls" are treated as being done at the same time.

Whether or not "The Paths of Destiny" is a card that restores LP or inflicts damage is determined by a coin toss performed when the card resolves. "Shining Silver Force" cannot be activated in Chain to the activation of a Trap Card that may or may not inflict damage.: Can "Shining Silver Force" be activated in Chain to the activation of "The Paths of Destiny"?

"Shining Silver Force" can only be activated in Chain to a Trap Card that is activated and will inflict damage at resolution. Therefore, when "Skull Invitation" etc. is activated, which does not inflict damage when it resolves, "Shining Silver Force" cannot be activated.: Can "Shining Silver Force" be activated in Chain to a Trap Card that does not inflict damage when it is activated?

After "Skull Invitation" resolves, while it is face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone, the effect "Each time a card(s) is sent to the Graveyard, inflict 300 damage to its owner for each card sent" is applied. Since Skull Invitation does not inflict any damage when the activation of the card resolves, the card "Shining Silver Force" cannot be activated in Chain.: Can "Shining Silver Force" be activated in Chain to the activation of the card "Skull Invitation"?
