This card is the original form of Yuya Sakaki's ace monster, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Prior to the transformation, it was his actual ace, and thus shares the same ATK as many other Ace Monsters: Dark Magician, Elemental HERO Neos, Stardust Dragon and Number 39: Utopia. These cards are respectively the signature cards of Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki, Yusei Fudo and Yuma Tsukumo, the previous protagonists from the first four series of the anime.
This card continues the trend of card names which included Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon.
Its effect is similar to that of Elemental HERO Flame Wingman, the first Ace Monster of GX.
This card has several counterparts.
Pendulum: Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon & Supreme King Dragon Odd-Eyes.
In the anime, this card transformed into Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon after reacting with Yuya's pendant. This change appears to be permanent.
Ritual: Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon
Fusion: Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon
Synchro: Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
Xyz: Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon
Normal Pendulum: Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon
LIGHT: Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon & Odd-Eyes Lancer Dragon.
This monster's roar in the anime is similar to Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and the Crimson Dragon.
The orbs on this monster's chest are similar to those on Stardust Dragon.
This monster appears in the artwork of Sky Iris.
This card was one of the original members of the Four Dimension Dragons (the others being Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon and Starving Venom Fusion Dragon).
Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon appears to be an upgraded form of this card had it not transformed into Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
