Card Trivia

This is the strongest 'non-Chaos' Gimmick Puppet monster in terms of ATK, being surpassed only by Number C40: Gimmick Puppet of Dark Strings and its own Number C counterpart.
This is the only Gimmick Puppet Xyz Monster that cannot inflict effect damage.
This card reflects Quattro's personality:
Lions are known to have a calm, majestic appearance while at rest, but can be ruthless and bloodthirsty when hunting. Similarly, Quattro disguises himself as a well-mannered man who interacts with people with a noble and polite demeanor when not Dueling, but becomes sadistic and cold when he is, especially against anyone who stands in his way.
This card's effect and appearance are somewhat the opposite of Giant Grinder and Gimmick Puppet of Strings. While most Gimmick Puppets have somewhat disturbing and grotesque appearances, this card looks more righteous and benevolent. Also, unlike Giant Grinder and Gimmick Puppet of Strings, this card does not involve destroying monsters or inflicting damage to the opponent. Instead, this card involves winning through a peaceful method. This could reflect Quattro's true kind and noble personality beneath his sadism.
This card's alternate victory condition and how it was attempted against Shark may reference Quattro and Shark's first Duel, where Quattro won against Shark by alternate means by getting him disqualified.
This card shares many similarities with King Landia the Goldfang:
Both are Rank 8 Xyz Monsters that require 3 Level 8 monsters to Xyz Summon.
Both are based off a lion and a king.
Landia is a Match winner, while Leo is a Duel winner.
The appearance of this card of being a lion sitting on a throne may allude to it being the king of the Gimmick Puppets, just as the lion is said to be the king of the jungle.
In the anime, when this card detaches an Overlay Unit, it absorbs it in the gem on its sword.

You can activate a Quick-Play Spell Card from your hand in a chain to the effect of a "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" you control that places a Destiny Counter on itself. Even in that case, the effect resolves properly and a Destiny Counter is placed on the card.: Can you activate a Quick-Play Spell Card from your hand in a chain to the effect of a "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" you control that places a Destiny Counter on itself?

If the effects of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" are negated by the effect of "Skill Drain", the Destiny Counters placed on itself are removed. Also, if "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" is flipped face-down by the effect of "Book of Moon", the Destiny Counters placed on itself are removed.: Are the Destiny Counters placed by the effect of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" removed when the effect of "Skill Drain" is applied?
Also, are the Destiny Counters placed by the effect of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" removed when it's flipped face-down by the effect of "Book of Moon"?

When 3 Destiny Counters are placed on "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo", the controller of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" wins the Duel. This is not a monster effect but rather a victory condition, and it doesn't start a chain.: 3 Destiny Counters were placed on "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" by its own effect that places 1 Destiny Counter on itself. Does winning the Duel as a result of that start a chain?

The effect of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" that places a Destiny Counter on itself cannot be activated during Main Phase 2.: If after the Battle Phase, "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" is Xyz Summoned during Main Phase 2, can its effect to place a Destiny Counter on itself be activated?

If a "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" that already had placed 2 Destiny Counters on itself activates its effect to place a Destiny Counter on itself and the opponent activates "Enemy Controller" in a chain to take control of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo", the winner of the Duel is the controller of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" at the time it places a third Destiny Counter on itself. Therefore, the opponent, who activated "Enemy Controller" and took control of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" is the winner of the Duel.: When a "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" that already had placed 2 Destiny Counters on itself activates its effect to place a Destiny Counter on itself, the opponent activated "Enemy Controller" in a chain, targeting that "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" for the effect that takes control of a monster. In this case, after "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" switches control to the opponent by the effect of "Enemy Controller", the effect of "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" resolves placing a third Destiny Counter on itself, but which player wins the Duel?
