Card Trivia

This is one of very few Equip Spell cards that does not give any battle-related effect (i.e. ATK/DEF gain or protection from battle.)
Ironically, its only effect after the equip resolves involves the tributing of the equipped monster, when Equips generally meant to help a monster stay on the field or giving them a new ability on the field.
This is also one of very few Equip Spell cards that can be equipped to only 1 specific monster in the game.
Presumably, this is due to the card being themed around labyrinth - which is the Labyrinth Wall that appears in this card's artwork.
The spiral in the background of this card's artwork may be an homage to Fusion Summoning.
In fact, in the Yu-Gi-Oh!, Wall Shadow, which is the monster this card's effect Summons, was in fact a Fusion monster that was the result of the Fusion of Labyrinth Wall and Shadow Ghoul via Polymerization. It became an effect monster in the OCG and TCG though.
This card’s effect in the anime and manga was completely different from the OCG / TCG form, as its effect was to rearrange the walls inside Labyrinth Wall, which obviously doesn’t have any real world application to the card game, which is why the effect on the physical card had to be something entirely different.

OCG Rulings

"Magical Labyrinth" can be equipped to either a face-up "Labyrinth Wall" in the player's Monster Zone or a face-up "Labyrinth Wall" in the opponent's Monster Zone.: Magical Labyrinth

The effect "You can Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon "Wall Shadow" from your Deck" makes a Chain Link. (It does not target. It can only be activated during the player's Main Phase.)

Tributing the "Labyrinth Wall" equipped with "Magical Labyrinth" is a cost to activate the effect "Special Summon "Wall Shadow" from your Deck".

If there is no "Wall Shadow" in the player's Deck, the effect "Special Summon "Wall Shadow" from your Deck" cannot be activated.

The effect "You can Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon "Wall Shadow" from your Deck" of "Magical Labyrinth" is activated in the player's Main Phase and makes a Chain Link. If the opponent's controls "Magical Labyrinth", even if the player activated the effect of "Soul Exchange" targeting the opponent's "Labyrinth Wall" equipped with that "Magical Labyrinth", the player cannot Special Summon "Wall Shadow". However, if the player controls "Magical Labyrinth", and it is equipped to the opponent's "Labyrinth Wall", that opponent's "Labyrinth Wall" affected by "Soul Exchange" can be Tributed and the effect of "Magical Labyrinth" activated. (The effect to Special Summon "Wall Shadow" will apply as normal.): Can an opponent's "Labyrinth Wall" affected by "Soul Exchange" be Tributed by the effect of "Magical Labyrinth"?
