Card Trivia

 This card's name comes from the appearance of this monster's head; its nose resembles a hammer's head hitter and the spikes at the back of this monster's head resemble the hammer's claw (the part that removes hammered-in objects).
The fossils of Hyper Hammerhead appear in Fossil Excavation.
Hyper Hammerhead is one of two Dinosaur-Type monsters that returns a monster to the hand, the other being Jurrac Ptera.
This card's effect is similar to Mist Valley Soldiers, albeit the latter's lore explains this differently.
This monster appears in the artwork of Lost World.

Des Kangaroo: If "Hyper Hammerhead" attacks "Des Kangaroo" in Defense Position, their effects form a chain; "Hyper Hammerhead" is Step 1 because it is the turn player's effect, and "Des Kangaroo" is Step 2. "Des Kangaroo" resolves first and destroys "Hyper Hammerhead", then "Hyper Hammerhead" resolves and "Des Kangaroo" is returned to the owner's hand.
