This effect doesn't target.
During this turn, even when monsters you control that are not "Heroic" monsters battle, you still don't take Battle Damage.
If the name of monster on your side of the field is being treated as "Heroic", then you can activate the effect of "Heroic Challenger - Swordshield".
This effect cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
