Card Trivia

The glass slipper is a famous trope from the fairy tale Cinderella, in which the prince tried to find Cinderella by seeing which lady in his kingdom's foot best fit into a glass slipper she was wearing the night he met her. It is widely believed that the slipper was originally meant to be made of squirrel fur (vair), a material reserved for high nobility, but due to a mistranslation from French, they became known as glass (verre) slippers instead. Other variants of the Cinderella story depicted the slippers as being made from gold.
This card's effect could reflect the glass slippers' part in the story. Prinzessin (representing Cinderella) gains ATK when it is equipped with this card and any other monster equipped with this card will lose ATK, a reflection of how the glass slipper in the tale was only meant to fit Cinderella and no other lady besides her.
The loss of ATK while equipped to a non-Fairy Monster may also reference how, in the German variant, Cinderella's wicked stepsisters mutilated themselves by cutting off parts of their feet to make the slipper fit.
This card appears in the artwork of “Fairy Tail - Rella”.
