Card Trivia

This monster is the cover card for Photon Shockwave.
This is the first non-Extra Deck cover card since Crimson Crisis.
This monster appears in the artworks of Photon Current, Galaxy Expedition, Galaxy Zero, Photon Stream of Destruction, Galaxy Barrier, Galaxy Burst, Kite Token, Miracle Galaxy, Photon Escape, Photon Wing and Triangle Evolution.
This monster is the signature card of Kite Tenjo in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. It shares its 3000 ATK with the rivals of other series, which are Seto Kaiba's Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Chazz Princeton's Armed Dragon LV10, Jack Atlas' Red Dragon Archfiend, Declan Akaba's D/D/D Doom King Armageddon, and Varis' Borreload Dragon.
Also, this card has the same DEF, Level, Attribute and Type as Blue-Eyes White Dragon;
Furthering its similarities to Red Dragon Archfiend, in ZEXAL episode 24, Kite calls this card Ore no tamashii (lit. My soul), which is similar to what Jack Atlas calls Red Dragon Archfiend in the Japanese version of 5D's.
Another similarity to Red Dragon Archfiend and Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon is facing the opposite way in its artwork to Number 39: Utopia, similar to how Blue-Eyes faces the opposite way to Dark Magician and how Red Dragon Archfiend faces the opposite way to Stardust Dragon.
This card has 4 Xyz counterparts: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon, Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon and Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon.
It also has also a younger counterpart: Galaxy-Eyes Cloudragon.
This card's name follows the same pattern as Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
This monster's attack name, Photon Stream of Destruction, is also very similar, both in name and appearance, to Burst Stream of Destruction, the attack of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
True to its name, this monster's eyes have a galaxy-like pattern.
In the anime, after this monster is Summoned, its body remains its basic dull, purple color until it steals Xyz Materials, which then make its scales and the jewels on its body light up and glow brightly.
According to Astral, this monster has light dwelling within it similar to his own world. In the international dub, Astral says he had seen the dragon before. This may be why it has a rivalry with Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, which appears to be a monster from Barian World.
In both the anime and the manga, when this card is Summoned, it appears as a four-sided star that absorbs all light around it, and then takes the form of this monster.
This is similar to the sealed form of the Number cards.
Since its second appearance in the anime, this monster has been reusing the roar of Stardust Dragon, along with the roars of Shooting Star Dragon and Shooting Quasar Dragon.
In the Facebook game Social Empires, there is a dragon based on this card called Galaxy Dragon.

On Summoning

This card is a Normal Summon monster.: Effect Monster > Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: Can you Advance Summon "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" from your hand? You can Tribute two monsters to Tribute Summon or Set it from your hand. You can Tribute "Kaiser Sea Horse" to Tribute Summon or Set it.

The effect which lets you Special Summon it from your hand is neither a Flip Effect nor a Continuous Effect nor an Ignition Effect nor a Trigger Effect nor a Quick Effect. Special Summoning it does not start a Chain Link.

You can Special Summon this card by Tributing two Set monsters with 2000+ ATK.

On Banishing Cards and Returning

The effect which banishes an opponent's monster is a Quick Effect that targets one of your opponent's monsters. Returning the monsters to the field does not start a Chain Link.

The increase to ATK lasts as long as this card remains face-up on the field.

If "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" battles "Number 39: Utopia", then the effect of "Number 39: Utopia" activates when an attack is declared, so you can activate this effect first. If the effect activates, then you can Chain the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" to it.: Please explain the order in which effects activate when "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" and "Number 39: Utopia" battle.

Versus control-changing effects:
If "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" banishes a monster that you own but your opponent controls because of "Enemy Controller", then when the monsters return to the field, the monster returns to your opponent's side of the field and then goes back to your side of the field.: How do you resolve it when you activate the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" when its original owner battles his own monster?
If "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" banishes a monster that you own but your opponent controls because of "Creature Swap", then when the monsters return to the field, the monster returns to your opponent's side of the field and remains under your opponent's control.
If your opponent controls your "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" because of "Enemy Controller" and activates its effect, then when the monsters return to the field, "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" will return directly to its original owner's side of the field.
If your opponent controls your "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" because of "Creature Swap" and activates its effect, then when the monsters return to the field, "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" will return to the field of your opponent (the player who controlled it when it was banished).

If "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" is face-down when its effect resolves, then it is banished face-down and returns to the field in face-down Defence Position. Do not increase its ATK.: When resolving the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon", can you banish it even if it becomes face-down?

If "Magic Cylinder" is Chained to the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon", then the attack is negated, but the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" is still applied. Thus, you still banish "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" and the opponent's battling monster.: Is the banishing effect applied if "Magic Cylinder" is Chained to "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon"?

Suppose that "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" banishes itself and an opponent's monster. If "Burial from a Different Dimension" is activated and returns one of the banished monsters to the Graveyard, then at the end of the Battle Phase the remaining monster returns to the field.: If one of the monsters banished by "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" is no longer banished because of "Burial from a Different Dimension", then does it return at the end of the Battle Phase?

If you activate the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" when it battles a Token Monster, then the Token Monster disappears when it is removed from the field, so at the end of the Battle Phase only "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" returns to the field.: If "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" battles with and banishes a Token or "Embodiment of Apophis", then do they return to the field at the end of the Battle Phase?

If you activate the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" when it battles "Embodiment of Apophis", then at the end of the Battle Phase both monsters return to the field. However, "Embodiment of Apophis" is only treated as a Trap Card, so it is immediately sent to the Graveyard.

If you activate the effect of "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" when it battles a "Stardust Dragon" Special Summoned by "Starlight Road", then at the end of the Battle Phase both monsters return to the field.
