Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca

Winged Beast / Effect  DARK / 10
There can only be 1 "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field. If there is no face-up Field Spell on the field, destroy this card. Your opponent's monsters cannot target this card for attacks. This card can attack directly. If this card is Normal Summoned: Target 1 to 3 cards you control, but not more than your opponent has in their hand; shuffle them into the Deck, then discard the same number of random cards from your opponent's hand (or as many as possible), and if you do, this card gains 1000 ATK for each card discarded by this effect.

Card Trivia

'Wiraqocha' (Viracocha) is one of the most important Inca Deities. He was the god of the sun and the storms, and according to the folklore, the creator of the Inca civilization. Its importance was so big that even non-Incan cultures adored it. Its name literally means Sea Foam.
This card's artwork is based on a condor, specifically the 'Andean Condor' which is one of the most sacred animals in the Inca Religion and one of the Peru's national animals, as well as Ecuador's national and most venerated animal.
This is the only Earthbound Immortal whose unique effect is different in real life than in the anime (its anime effect reduces the opponent's Life Points to 1 if you skip your Battle Phase).
It is also the only Earthbound Immortal to have a different ATK and DEF between the anime and the TCG/OCG (1/1 compared to 100/100).
This card's anime effect was later reworked into one of the effects of Earthbound Greater Linewalker, but reducing the opponent's LP to 3000 instead of 1.
In the anime, this card's effect is a reverse of The Winged Dragon of Ras, instead of reducing one's own Life Points to 1 to increase its ATK by the same amount, this card automatically reduces the opponent's Life Points to 1. Ironically, the downside to Ras effect is that it leaves the player vulnerable to even a low Direct attack (or Effect damage), while this card takes advantage of putting the opponent into that position with the general Earthbound Immortal effect of being able to attack the opponent directly.
This card is the only Earthbound Immortal to share a Type (Winged Beast) with another Earthbound Immortal: Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu. Additionally, Aslla piscu is based on a hummingbird, the smallest bird, whereas Wiraqocha Rasca is based on a condor, the largest flying bird.
This card can be both the weakest and strongest Earthbound Immortal, before and after gaining its maximum ATK increase.
The same also applies in a way to the anime: despite having a very low ATK and DEF, it had by far the most powerful anime effect and was stated by multiple characters to be the strongest of the Earthbound Immortals.
This card is the only Earthbound Immortal that does not have the letter 'U' in its name.
This card appears in the artwork of Earthbound Linewalker and Ultimate Earthbound Immortal.
In the 5D's anime, this monster could represent Rex Goodwin in two ways:
Rasca is based on the Andean Condor, which is the largest flying land bird in the Western Hemisphere. This alone could be synonymous of Goodwin's enhanced physical physique when he reveals himself as a Dark Signer.
In Andean mythology, the Andean Condor is associated with the sun deity, and was believed to be the ruler of the upper world. The Andean Condor is also considered a symbol of power and health by many Andean cultures. This could represent Goodwin's Inca themed Deck as well as his desire to be the Supreme Immortal Ruler of the Crimson Dragon and the world.
Rasca is the only Immortal that appears to have a part of its body that neither pertains to its black bodily shape nor its corresponding rainbow color stripes. Around its neck is what looks like a wreath of white feathers which is often seen on real-life condors.
Wiraqocha Rasca, in the anime, appears to be the largest Earthbound Immortal and has the largest geoglyphs.
This card's effect is the opposite of Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. While the effect of Brionac lets you discard cards from your hand to return cards from the field to the owner's hand, this card's effect lets you return cards from the field to discard cards from the opponent's hand.

Rulings

TCG Rulings

This card targets 1-3 cards you control.: Stardust Overdrive Sneak Peek -- Card Rulings (Version 1.0)

If you control your opponent's card, you can target it with this effect. The card will return to your opponent's Deck and will count towards the number of cards your opponent must discard at random and the ATK gain for this card.

If you target a Fusion or Synchro Monster with this effect, it returns to the appropriate Extra Deck and still count towards the number of cards your opponent must discard and the ATK gain for this card.

If you use "Shrink" on "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" its original ATK becomes 50 but it retains any ATK gained for this effect.

If you choose to return a Field Spell Card you control to your Deck with the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" you will return the card to your Deck, your opponent will discard as appropriate, this card will gain the appropriate amount of ATK, and then it will destroy itself by its own effect.

If "Skill Drain" is activated, this card loses any ATK gained from its effect and will not regain it even if "Skill Drain" later leaves the field.

If this card is turned face-down by a card that is chained to its effect, cards will still be returned to the Deck and your opponent will still discard, but this card will not gain any ATK.

If your opponent has fewer cards in hand than the number of cards you return to the Deck when this effect resolves, all of their remaining cards are discarded and this card will gain ATK only for each card discarded.

If your opponent has no cards in hand when you Normal Summon this card, you cannot activate its effect.

OCG Rulings

When "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" is successfully Normal Summoned, its effect which increases its ATK targets one to three cards on your side of the field.

When resolving the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", if the opponent has less cards in his hand than the number of targeted cards, then the opponent discards his hand and "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" gains 1000 ATK for each card discarded.: Is the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" applied if, when resolving the effect, the number of cards in your opponent's hand has decreased?

If "Shrink" affects "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" after it increases its own ATK by its effect, then the ATK of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" increases after its Original ATK is halved.: If "Shrink" targets "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" after its ATK is changed by its own effect, then what does its ATK become?
Example: "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" has 3100 ATK because of its own effect. When it is affected by "Shrink", its Original ATK of 100 is halved to 50, and then you re-apply the +3000 from the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", for a total of 3050 ATK.

If "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" targets a Quick-Play Spell Card or Normal Trap Card and the card is Chained to the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", then the card will not be returned to the Deck by the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca". However, if "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" targets a Continuous Trap Card and the card is Chained to the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", then the Continuous Trap Card will be returned to the Deck.: If one of the cards targeted by "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" is activated in Chain, then is that card returned to the Deck?

If "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" returns a Field Spell Card to the Deck, then "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" is destroyed after the rest of the effect resolves.: If "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" returns a Field Spell Card to the Deck, then do you apply its effect which randomly discards from the hand?

The effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" may target a Synchro or Fusion monster, or a card owned by your opponent which you control, even though these will not be returned to your Deck. The effect will return them to the Extra Deck or your opponent's Deck, respectively. Also, these returned cards will count towards the number of cards which your opponent must randomly discard from his hand.: Can the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" select a Fusion Monster or an opponent's monster which you control and return them to the Deck?

You may select a Token Monster as a target of the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca". However, when resolving the effect, the Token Monster disappears instead of being sent to the Deck, so it is not included in the number of cards which your opponent must randomly discard from his hand.: Can the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" target a Token Monster and return it to the Deck?

When the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" activates, you may not target more cards than the number of cards that your opponent has in his hand. Thus, if your opponent has two cards in his hand, then you may only target one or two cards. If your opponent has no cards in his hand, then you cannot target any cards on your side of the field, so the effect is not applied.: Can the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" target more cards than are in your opponent's hand?
