This monster is the cover card of Starter Deck 2017.
This monster is the signature card of Yusaku Fujiki throughout the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime.
This card was the first Link Monster revealed in the OCG/TCG, as well as the first Link Monster to be Link Summoned in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime.
It was also the last Link Monster that Playmaker used in the anime.
It was also that last monster to be selected as attack target.
This card and Firewall Dragon are the first ace monsters of a spin-off protagonist whose Type is neither Dragon nor Warrior, thus breaking the pattern of the spin-off protagonists' ace monsters (though Decode Talker resembles a Warrior while Firewall Dragon resembles a Dragon, so they only break the pattern semantically).
It is also the first time a main protagonist uses a newly created Type (in this case, Cyberse).
This card eventually being replaced by the 2500 ATK Firewall Dragon as Yusaku's ace monster mirrors Jaden Yuki's Elemental HERO Flame Wingman, who eventually got replaced by the 2500 ATK Elemental HERO Neos, Yusei Fudo's Junk Warrior, who eventually got replaced by the 2500 ATK Stardust Dragon, and Yuya Sakaki's Odd-Eyes Dragon, who was replaced by Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
This card's second effect is similar to that of Stardust Dragon. Both sacrifice something to protect cards on the field.
However, Decode Talker is used more often than Firewall Dragon.
It was even used in the final battle in the series, rather than Firewall Dragon.
It is also his favorite monster and the only card in his deck he harbored a connection and respect for, even in comparison to his other ace Firewall Dragon.
This card has several counterparts.

This card being a main protagonist's purple warrior-themed monster of the same card type as its user's ace with 2300 ATK, power up capabilities based on other monsters, and being the start of a monster archetype that its user frequently uses is similar to Gaia The Fierce Knight and Junk Warrior.
This card shares further parallels with Yusei's Junk Warrior.
Both are DARK monsters with 2300 ATK and effects that boost their ATK through ally monsters. Their ATK boosting effects also contain the word power in their names (Power Integration and Power of Fellows).
Both are Warrior (or Warrior-like) monsters who were eventually replaced by Dragon (or Dragon-like) monsters as their owners' signature cards.
Both monsters are the first to be summoned by their owners via their respective summoning methods (Link and Synchro) in their respective anime series (VRAINS and 5D's).
Both monsters are also the last to be summoned by their owners in their respective anime series, regardless of the method used.
This monster appears in the artworks of Recoded Alive, Link Restart, Limit Code, Cynet Codec, Decode Destruction, Urgent Link, Dimension Link, Code Hack, Cynet Conflict and You and A.I.
This card can be viewed as a personification of Yusaku because it gains power by using others to achieve its goals (similar to how Yusaku views Ai as a tool for his ends).
Furthermore, its effect that requires sacrificing a monster it is Linked to for the safety of its allies is similar to how Yusaku wouldn't hesitate to delete Ai if one of the Knights of Hanoi didn't stop his destruction of LINK VRAINS.
However, it is later used to show how Yusaku has grown by deriving strength from both his enemies and allies.

OCG Rulings
The effect "Gains 500 ATK for each monster it points to." is a Continuous Effect. (If the number of monsters this card points to changes, the gained ATK also changes immediately.): Decode Talker
While "Decode Talker" is in the Extra Monster Zone, it gains ATK even if there is a monster in your opponent's Main Monster Zone pointed by its Link Arrows.
The effect "When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a card(s) you control (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 monster this card points to; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card." is a Quick Effect. (It can also be activated during the Damage Step.)
The effect "negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card." does not target. It is activated directly in Chain to the activation of an opponent's Spell/Trap Card, the activation of the effect of an opponent's Spell/Trap Card, or the activation of an opponent's monster effect, that targets a card(s) you control.
Tributing 1 of your monsters pointed by this card's Link Arrows is a cost to activate the effect "negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.". (While "Decode Talker" is in the Extra Monster Zone, even if there is a monster in your opponent's Main Monster Zone pointed by its Link Arrows, that opponent's monster cannot be Tributed as a cost.)
