Card Trivia

This monster represents the DARK Ignis, Ai (himself), doubling as his ace monster as well.
Visually, it appears to be a corrupted version Playmaker's ace, Decode Talker, since Playmaker was the man Ai was based off of as well as his partner. Additionally, it was the Code Talker that corresponds with the DARK Ignis.
Because of this, Dark Templar shares the same Attribute, ATK and Link Rating as Decode Talker.
Despite mirroring it, the effect of Dark Templar focuses on reviving allies and swarming the field without powering itself up; this is the opposite of Decode Talker, who draws strength from both enemy and ally. Because of this, the former's effect seems to reflect Ai's current view on humanity, his mourning over the other Ignis and deriving strength from the latter. Whereas, the latter effect reflects the bonds Playmaker develops overtime.
This contrast is depicted in their Link Arrows as well: all of the arrows of Dark Templar point downward, while Decode Talker has one that points up (with a bottom left and bottom right).
This is the last monster to declare an attack in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime.
This card is the first monster whose summon chant was disturbed as, according to Roboppi, it was too long.
This card's @Ignister symbol is located on its left shoulder.
This monster is similar to Number C101: Silent Honor DARK.
Both possess large, spiked pauldrons.
Both have wings of some kind; those of Dark Templar appear to be more membranous, while the wings of Silent Honor DARK are more akin to a carapace.
Their heads/helmets have at least three spikes, a faceplate and glowing eyes.
Coincidentally, the owner of Silent Honor DARK was also an ally to the protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL before (temporarily) becoming an antagonist.
Both monsters have had their name changed from Dark Knight.
