Card Trivia

 The duelist in this card is a Slifer Red student.
This card is a type-specific counterpart of Damage Condenser; its advantage over this card is that it works on any monster, but the disadvantage is that one card must be discarded for a one-time activation.
This is currently the only card to have an equals sign in its name, and one of few cards to have any sort of symbol in its name.

Rulings

In the TCG, this card cannot be activated during the Damage Step. In the OCG, it can be, as long as its effect is activated in the same Chain Link.

The activation of only the card "
Damage = Reptile" can be performed at any time, except during the Damage Step.: Damage = Reptile

If you also activate its effect in the same Chain Link, you can activate the card "Damage = Reptile" after damage calculation.

The effect of "Damage = Reptile" activates after damage calculation and makes a Chain Link. (It does not target

This effect can not only be activated when a Reptile-Type monster you control battles and you take battle damage, but also when an opponent's Reptile-Type monster declares a direct attack and you take battle damage.
