Like all Frog (「ガエル」 (Gaeru)) monsters and their Toad allies, this monster's Japanese name is a pun. It plays on the word 寝返る (negaeru to switch sides) which aptly describes its effects. This word contains the morpheme 寝 (ne) which refers to the resting that Centerfrog is indulging in.
Flip Flop Frog is another Frog with a double-crossing, control-switching effect.
Centerfrogs belly has a black circle, a literal representation of its black-hearted disloyal character. The black circle comes from the word 腹黒い (haraguroi literally black-bellied).
