Card Trivia

 Shura may refer to:
Shura (Arabic: شورى shūrā), an Arabic term for consultation.
Ashura, a Japanese term for the lowest ranks of the deities or demigods of the Kāmadhātu in Buddhism, otherwise known as Asura.
Shura mono (Japanese: 修羅物), a category of plays from Noh, a major form of classical Japanese musical drama.
A corruption of the word azure, in keeping with the convention of naming Blackwing cards after atmospheric phenomena/mythology. Azure means blue, and is a word commonly associated with the color of the sky.
The effect of destroying other monsters through battle in order to summon is very similar to the effect of Hydrogeddon.
This card was released as one of the 3 Raging Battle preview promos released in the Duelist Pack Collection Tin 2009.
This card is the opposite of a searcher. Instead of summoning a monster after being destroyed by battle, it must destroy a monster by battle to summon another Blackwing.
This is one of the only Blackwings whose effect was never activated in the anime.

The Special Summoned monster’s effect is negated as long as it remains face-up on the field.: Raging Battle -- Card Rulings (version 1.2)

"CLARIFICATION:"
The effect of “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” activates when monsters are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard at the end of the Damage Step. This is the same timing as the effects of cards like “Hydrogeddon,” “Blue Thunder T-45,” “Goyo Guardian{{SpanElemental Hero Flame Wingman”.
In order for its effect to activate, “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” must be face-up on the field when the monster it destroyed by battle is sent to the Graveyard. This means:
If Shura and the other monster destroy each other by battle (equal ATK), Shura’s effect does not activate.
If Shura is destroyed by a Flip Effect like “Man-Eater Bug,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
If Shura is flipped face-down after damage calculation by a card effect, such as “Desertapir,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
If Shura{{Spanremoved from play by battling “D.D. Warrior,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
If Shura is destroyed by an effect after the monster it destroyed by battle was sent to the Graveyard, such as “Michizure,” Shura’s effect DOES activate, and you can Special Summon a monster.
"NOTE:" These rules also apply to any other monster with the text "“When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard….”" (Examples: “Hydrogeddon,” “Goyo Guardian{{SpanElemental Hero Flame Wingman”.)
These rules do NOT apply to monsters with the text "“When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle….”" (but does not specify “and sends it to the Graveyard”). (Example: “Blue Thunder T-45”.) Monsters with that text will activate their effects in ALL of the above scenarios.

OCG Rulings

When "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" Special Summons a monster, if "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" is later destroyed, then the Special Summoned monster's effect will remain negated.: If "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" is no longer on the field, then is the effect of the monster Special Summoned by "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame"s effect still negated?

When "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" Special Summons a monster, if the Special Summoned monster is flipped face-down by "Book of Moon"/etc, then the Special Summoned monster's effect is no longer negated.: When the monster Special Summoned by "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" is flipped face-down, is the Special Summoned monster's effect applied?

When resolving the effect of "Black Whirlwind", you add a "Blackwing" monster to your hand with less ATK than the ATK of the Normal Summoned monster while the Normal Summoned monster is on the field.: When adding a monster to your hand by the effect of "Black Whirlwind", at what time do you reference the ATK of the Normal Summoned monster?
Example: "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" (1800 ATK) is Normal Summoned while "Mystic Plasma Zone" (+500 ATK) is on the field. If you activate the effect of "Black Whirlwind", then you add a monster with less than 2300 ATK from your Deck to your hand.

When "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" destroys a monster by battle, if "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" is not face-up on the field when the destroyed monster is sent to the Graveyard, then the effect of "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" does not activate. If "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" battles with a monster with the same ATK and both are destroyed by battle, then the effect of "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" does not activate.: Can a monster be Special Summoned when "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame" and the monster with which it is battling are both destroyed by battle?

If "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is Special Summoned by the effect of "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame", then the effect "while this card is face-up on the field, this card cannot be used as Synchro Material Monster" of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is negated, so it can be used for a Synchro Summon.: Can "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" be used as a Synchro Material Monster when its effect is negated?
