Card Trivia

This monster is based after Barbas (also spelled Marbas). In demonology, Barbas is a demon described in the Ars Goetia, first section of King Solomon's grimoirea. He is described there as the Great President of Hell, and governs thirty-six legions of demons. He answers truly on hidden or secret things, causes and heals diseases, teaches mechanical arts, and changes men into other shapes. He is depicted as a great lion that, under the conjurer's request, changes shape into a man.
Barbaros is Greek for barbarian.
The name Barbas also comes from the Latin barba, beard, hellebore (a plant used in witchcraft, especially to invoke demons), and also a male name.
This monster has an upgraded version, Beast Machine King Barbaros Ür.
This monster has a retrained version, King Beast Barbaros.
The second effect of this card is the combined effects of Moisture Creature (Harpie's Feather Duster) and Gilford the Lightning (Raigeki) . All three Monsters are normally Tribute Summoned with 2 Tributes, but get their effect requires 3 Tributes to active.
Beast King Barbaros is one of the five kings of the Beasts, the other one being King of the Beasts. Ojama King, Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts, Chimaera, the Master of Beasts, Alpha, the Master of Beasts and Behemoth the King of All Animals could be considered kings of the Beasts as well since they are somehow related to the Beast-Type.

Rulings

OCG Rulings

If you Tribute three monsters to Tribute Summon "Beast King Barbaros"/"Gilford the Lightning"/"Moisture Creature" etc, you cannot Set it in face-down Defense Position. It must be Tribute Summoned in face-up Attack Position. If "Light of Intervention" is active, you can Tribute three monsters to Tribute Summon it in face-up Defense Position.: When Tribute Summoning "Beast King Barbaros" with three Tributes, in what position can it be Summoned?

If "Enemy Controller" is chained to the effect of "Beast King Barbaros", the effect of "Beast King Barbaros" still activates.: When control of "Beast King Barbaros" is changed in chain to its effect's activation, is either player's field destroyed?

When Tributing "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" or "Beast King Barbaros" for "Fog King", you use the printed ATK of the Tributed monsters to determine the ATK of "Fog King". If you Tribute a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK for "Fog King", then the ATK of "Fog King" is 3000.: When a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK is Tributed for "Fog King", what is its ATK?

If a monster equipped with "Double Tool C&D" attacks a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK, then the effect of "Beast King Barbaros" is negated and it will have 3000 ATK. After the Battle Phase ends, "Beast King Barbaros" will remain at 3000 ATK.: When a monster equipped with "Double Tool C&D" attacks "Beast King Barbaros", what does its ATK become?

When a "Beast King Barbaros" with 1900 ATK is affected by "Forbidden Chalice", the effect of "Beast King Barbaros" will be negated and it will have 3400 ATK: the listed 3000 plus 400 because of the effect of "Forbidden Chalice". When you stop applying the effect of "Forbidden Chalice" during the End Phase, the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will become 3000.: When "Forbidden Chalice" negates the effect of "Beast King Barbaros", what does its ATK become?

If "Beast King Barbaros" Normal Summoned without Tributes and is then is targeted by the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind", then the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will become 950. If "Skill Drain" is activated later, then the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will remain at 950, the halved value set by the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind".: If "Skill Drain" is activated after the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" is halved by the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind", then what does its ATK become?

If "Beast King Barbaros" or "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" is Normal Summoned without Tributes and has its ATK/DEF changed, then if it is flipped face-down by an effect like "Book of Moon", then the effect which changes its ATK/DEF is no longer applied, so "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" returns to 2800/2000. Also, if it is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", then the effect which changes its ATK/DEF is no longer applied as soon "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" is removed from the field, so "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" returns to 2800/2000.: If "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" or "Beast King Barbaros" are Normal Summoned without Tributes and then are flipped face-down, then what are its ATK and DEF?

Suppose "Beast King Barbaros" is Summoned without Tribute (1900 ATK), and then has its ATK halved by the effect of "Armored Bee" (to 950 ATK). If "Skill Drain" is activated during the same turn, then the ATK of "Beast King Barbaros" will remain at 950, the halved value it became by the effect of "Armored Bee".: If "Skill Drain" is activated after an ATK is halved by the effect of "Armored Bee", then what does the value become?

The ATK and DEF of "The Tyrant Neptune" are increased by the printed ATK and DEF of the monster which was Tributed from the field.: The ATK of "The Tyrant Neptune" increases by that of the Tributed monster at what time?
Example: If "The Tyrant Neptune" is Summoned by Tributing a "Beast King Barbaros" which was Summoned without Tributes (1900 ATK / 1200 DEF), then the ATK of "The Tyrant Neptune" becomes 3000, and the DEF becomes 1200. If you Tribute two copies of "Beast King Barbaros", then the ATK and DEF of "The Tyrant Neptune" will increase by 6000 and 2400, respectively.
