Card Trivia

This monster is based on the side-scrolling shooter game of the same name, Space Manbow, released for the MSX2 by Konami in 1989. In the game, the Space Manbow is a super weapon excavated on Alphard 4, and is also the last boss of the eponymous game.
The card illustration is a joke on the fact that the sunfish is called a mambo (マンボウ) in Japanese. The actual Space Manbow from the original MSX2 game is in fact a giant spaceship, and can be seen in the background of the card illustration.
Space Manbo was originally created as an MSX2 port of the arcade game, Thunder Cross.
The cyan lines and dots on this monster's body share a strong resemblance to those seen on circuit boards.
