(This effect does not target. This effect activates even if this card is Special Summoned during the Damage Step.): Number C40: Gimmick Puppet of Dark Strings

Even if there are no monsters with String Counters when this card is Special Summoned, this effect activates and starts a Chain Link. (In that case, when the effect resolves, nothing happens.)

The "place 1 String Counter on each face-up monster your opponent controls." effect is an Ignition Effect. (This effect does not target. Detaching 1 Xyz Material from this card is a cost to activate this effect.)
