Card Trivia

This monster shares the same Type, Attribute, ATK and theme / appearance of Royal Magical Library, also playing the role of a support card.
This card's artwork resembles the pillars of Different Dimension Airship.
This card's effect of Special Summoning a Number monster with a number from 1 to 99 is likely a reference to how this card can Special Summon a Number that is a piece of Astral's memory; this is supported by this card's overall appearance.
Various card names appear in this card's artwork written in Astral glyphs.
In the top-left corner (read from left-to-right, in a descending fashion), the first row contains Number 32: Shark Drake (ク・ドレイイク, ku Doreīku) and Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss (CNo.32カイコ, Kaosu Nanbāzu Sanjūni Kaiko), while the second row contains Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech (ック, kku) and Number 34: Terror-Byte (No.34デンサンキジユウテ, Nanbāzu Sanjūyon Densankijū Te).
The Japanese name of Number 32 is slightly incorrect in this card's artwork, as it has an extra in its name.
In the column in the top-right corner (read from left-to-right, in a descending fashion), the first row contains Number 39: Utopia Beyond (ボオビヨンド・, bō'ō Biyondo), while the second row contains Number 39: Utopia  (オプ, opu), and Number 39: Utopia Roots (No.39キボオホオプ・ルウツ, Nanbāzu Sanjūkyū Kibō'ō Hōpu Rūtsu).
The third row appears to depict the name of a
Number 39: Utopia monster (most likely a Number C monster).
This is the first card to contain its archetype string (
Number") twice in its name.
78 is the sum of numbers 1 through 12.

The monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" is a Quick Effect. (It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.): Number 78: Number Archive

Detaching 1 Xyz Material is a cost to activate this card's effect.

It does not target. (When the effect resolves, your opponent randomly chooses 1 card from your Extra Deck, and the effect resolves depending on that choice.)

If the result of "your opponent randomly chooses 1 card in your Extra Deck" is a ""Number" monster that has a number between "1" and "99" in its name", "Special Summon it by using this face-up card you control as the Xyz Material" is treated as the last thing to resolve. ("you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn" is immediately applied.)

If the result of "your opponent randomly chooses 1 card in your Extra Deck" is not a ""Number" monster that has a number between "1" and "99" in its name", the chosen card is returned to the Extra Deck, and and the effect resolution ends. ("you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn" is immediately applied.)

"Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss" is a "Number" monster whose number falls within the range of 1 through 99, so if it is the card that is chosen randomly by the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", it will be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck.: If the card randomly chosen for the monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" is "Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss", is it Special Summoned?

"Number C88: Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo" is a "Number" whose number falls within the range of 1 through 99, but it cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of a "Rank-Up-Magic" Spell Card targeting "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo". Therefore, if "Number C88: Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo" is the card randomly chosen for the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", it is not Special Summoned and will be returned to the Extra Deck. (Even in this case, the part of the effect that prevents you from Special Summoning for the rest of the turn is applied normally.): If the card randomly chosen for the monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" is "Number C88: Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo", is it Special Summoned?

When resolving the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", even if "Number 78: Number Archive" itself is in face-down Defense Position, your opponent must still randomly choose 1 card in your Extra Deck. That card will be revealed to both players, but if it is a "Number" monster whose number is 1 through 99, it cannot be Special Summoned by using "Number 78: Number Archive" as the Xyz Material, so it remains in the Extra Deck. Even so, the part of the effect that prevents you from Special Summoning monsters for the rest of this turn is applied normally.: When resolving the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", if "Number 78: Number Archive" itself has been changed to face-down Defense Position, how does it resolve?

Resolving the monster effect "banish that monster during the End Phase" of "Number 78: Number Archive" does not make a Chain Link. If "Number 10: Illumiknight" was Special Summoned by "Number 78: Number Archive", the Special Summoned "Number 10: Illumiknight" will be banished during the End Phase. Note that the Xyz Materials attached to "Number 10: Illumiknight", including the copy of "Number 78: Number Archive" that activated its effect, are sent to the Graveyard and not banished.: If the Xyz Monster is banished by the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" in the End Phase, how does "Number 78: Number Archive" resolve?

You can activate the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" even if you have Pendulum Monsters face-up in your Extra Deck. In that case, Pendulum Monsters that are face-up in your Extra Deck are still included among the cards that your opponent randomly chooses from. (If the randomly chosen card is a Pendulum Monster that was face-up, it returns to your Extra Deck face-up, also the part of the effect that prevents you from Special Summoning for the rest of the turn is applied normally.): Can the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" be activated while there are face-up Pendulum Monsters in your Extra Deck?

When resolving the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", even if "Number 78: Number Archive" itself is on your opponent’s field, your opponent must still randomly choose 1 card in your Extra Deck. That card will be revealed to both players, but if it is a "Number" monster whose number is 1 through 99, it cannot be Special Summoned by using "Number 78: Number Archive" as the Xyz Material, so it remains in the Extra Deck. Even so, the part of the effect that prevents you from Special Summoning monsters for the rest of this turn is applied normally.: When resolving the monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", if control of "Number 78: Number Archive" has been changed to the opponent, how does the effect resolve?

The effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" Special Summons an Xyz Monster by using "Number 78: Number Archive" itself as the Xyz Material. Therefore, you can activate the monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" even if you have no available Monster Zones.: If you have no available Monster Zones, can the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" be activated?

When resolving the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", even if the effect of "Vanity's Emptiness" is applying, your opponent will still choose 1 random card from your Extra Deck. However, if that card is a "Number" monster whose number falls within the range of 1 through 99, since it is not possible to Special Summon it, it remains in the Extra Deck. Even in that case, the part of the effect that prevents you from Special Summoning other monsters for the rest of this turn is applied normally. Note that if "Vanity's Emptiness" is already applying, the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive" cannot be activated.: When resolving the monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive", if "Vanity's Emptiness" is applying, how does the effect resolve?

If you do not have a "Number" monster in your Extra Deck whose number is 1 through 99, you cannot activate the effect of "Number 78: Number Archive".: If there are no "Number" monsters in your Extra Deck, can you activate the monster effect of "Number 78: Number Archive"?
