Card Trivia

This monster and Number 31: Embodiment of Punishment, are based on the Biblical story of Cain and Abel, the first and second sons of Adam and Eve. According to Genesis 4:1-8, Cain committed the first murder by killing Abel. The opposite position of their numbers further allude to this.
The reference this card makes to Cain gains additional meaning in the context of this card's debut in the manga. This monster appeared out of Kaito Tenjo's deck after he reduced Shark's Life Points to below half - in short, Kaito played the role of Cain in the duel by acting as the aggressor against Shark.
The TCG names of this card and Number 31: Embodiment of Punishment may be derived from the title of the novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
In particular, the TCG name of this card references the aforementioned crime of Cain murdering Abel.
