Card Trivia

He is holding the crushed remains of Ally of Justice Catastor in his hands. Ironically, the effect of Catastor would automatically destroy Thunder Lord were the two to face each other on the field.
The connection between Mist Valley and the Ally of Justice monsters was first hinted at in the flavor text for Ally of Justice - Clausolas.
This card's effect is an upgraded version of the effect of Mist Valley Shaman.
This card appears in the artworks of Mind Pollutant.

The effect targets the one card to be returned to the Hand.: Synchro Monster > Mist Valley Thunder Lord

You cannot activate this card's effect by selecting itself as a target.

During the Damage Step, if before Damage Calculation you return your battling monster to your Hand by the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord", then you do not perform Damage Calculation.: During the Damage Step, if you activate the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" so that the battling monster is not on the field, do you calculate damage?

If you cannot return the card targeted by "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" to your hand - for example, "Ring of Destruction" was Chained to the effect and destroyed the targeted monster - then the ATK-increasing effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" is not applied.: Does the ATK of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" increase when you cannot return the targeted card to the hand?

If you activate a card that does not remain on the field after activation like a Normal/Quickplay Spell Card or a Normal Trap Card, then you cannot Chain the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" and target the activated card. However, cards like "Swords of Revealing Light" and "Blast with Chain" remain on the field after activation, so you may target them with the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord". If "Swords of Revealing Light" is returned to your hand, then all the opponent's monster are flipped face-up, but the effect of not being able to attack is not applied.: Can the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" be Chained to the activation of a Normal Spell Card?

You can target a Monster Token or a Fusion/Synchro Monster with the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord". The Monster Token will disappear, and the Fusion/Synchro Monster will return to the Extra Deck. However, no monster was returned to the hand, so "Mist Valley Thunder Lord" will not gain +500 ATK.: Can a Monster Token or a Synchro Monster etc be targeted by the effect of "Mist Valley Thunder Lord"?

You cannot use "Eccentric Boy" and a monster from the hand as Synchro Material Monsters to Synchro Summon a monster like "Dark End Dragon" or "Arcanite Magician" if the Synchro Material Monsters are not the ones specified in the text of the Synchro Monster. To Synchro Summon "Dark End Dragon", you must send a DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard as a Synchro Material Monster. To Synchro Summon "Arcanite Magician", you must send a Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand to the Graveyard as a Synchro Material Monster. To Synchro Summon "Mist Valley Thunder Lord", you must send a "Mist Valley" monster from your hand to the Graveyard as a Synchro Material Monster. To Synchro Summon "Black Brutdrago", you must send a Gemini monster from your hand to the Graveyard as a Synchro Material Monster. And so on.: If "Eccentric Boy" is used as a Synchro Material Monster to Synchro Summon "Dark End Dragon", then can you use a non-DARK Synchro Material Monster from your hand?
