Card Trivia

The TCG name is in fact a mistranslation because Harpy is singular while Harpies is plural.
In the earlier episodes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, this card's name was Harpie's Lady.
This monster appears in the artworks of Summoning Clock and Elegant Egotist, while its eyes appear in the artwork of Shadow of Eyes.
In Greek mythology and Roman mythology, harpies are a female monster in the form of a bird with a human face. They steal food from their victims while they are eating and carry evildoers.
Interestingly, unlike the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, this monster's appearance was censored even in the Japanese version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.
This card's first TCG printing was uncensored, just like the Japanese artwork. This was fixed in later TCG reprints.
This card's OCG/TCG artwork is taken from , specifically from the panel where this monster is Summoned.
Curiously, this card and the anime version of Harpie Lady Sisters are the only members of Harpie to have blue skin, with the rest having human skin tone.
This card has two retrained counterparts, Harpie Lady 1 and Cyber Harpie Lady, the latter basically being this exact monster equipped with Cyber Shield.
This card also has a Toon counterpart in Toon Harpie Lady, though its appearance is based on Harpie Lady 1.
Along with other protagonist and rival cards like Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Dark Magician Girl, this card is often considered to be one of the most iconic monsters of the entire franchise.
In Malaysian version of the anime, Harpie Lady is erroneously dubbed as Perempuan Gembira, lit. Happy Lady due to the mistranslation of Harpie as Happy.

The effect to "destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field" of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" is mandatory, so it will activate even if "Harpie Lady" or "Harpie Lady Sisters" is Special Summoned during the Damage Step.: Does the effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" which destroys a Spell or Trap Card activate even during the Damage Step?

If "Harpie Lady" is Special Summoned in the middle of resolving a Chain, then the effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" will activate and start a new Chain Link after the current Chain fully resolves.: If "Harpie Lady" is Special Summoned in the middle of resolving a Chain, then after you finish resolving it can the effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" be applied?

The effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" will activate when the opponent Normal Summons or Special Summons "Harpie Lady". When this happens, the effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" activates as an opponent's effect.: Spell Card > Harpies' Hunting Ground

While you control "Harpies' Hunting Ground", its effect will activate even when the opponent Normal Summons or Special Summons "Harpie Lady" or "Harpie Lady Sisters". In this case, the effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" activates as the effect of the player who Normal Summoned or Special Summoned "Harpie Lady", so that player may destroy a card on the field.: Can the opponent activate the effect of "Harpies' Hunting Ground" when he Normal Summons or Special Summons "Harpie Lady"?

Chthonian Alliance: Monsters that are treated as having the same name, like "Cyber Harpie Lady" and "Harpie Lady 3", both count as "Harpie Lady" for purposes of "Chthonian Alliance".

Harpie's Pet Baby Dragon: These effects accumulate, so if you have 3 "Harpie Lady" on the field all 3 effects are applied. Only face-up Harpies count, though.

Harpie's Pet Dragon: You count "Harpie Lady" cards on both sides of the field when increasing this card's ATK and DEF.

Harpie Lady 1: The name of "Harpie Lady 1", "Harpie Lady 2", and "Harpie Lady 3" is treated as "Harpie Lady" for all purposes, including Deck construction. So you can have 2 copies of "Harpie Lady 1" in your Deck and 1 copy of "Harpie Lady 2", but not 2 copies of each because you would have 4 cards in your Deck treated as "Harpie Lady". This restriction also applies to your Side Deck, so if you have 3 monsters treated as "Harpie Lady" in your Deck, you cannot have any in your Side Deck.

Harpies' Hunting Ground: If you control "Harpies' Hunting Ground" on your side of the field, because it is a Field Spell Card, its effects apply to both players. When either player Normal Summons or Special Summons a "Harpie Lady" or "Harpie Lady Sisters" to the field, the controller of that newly-Summoned monster is the one who selects 1 Spell or Trap Card and destroys it.

Karma Cut: If you target "Harpie Lady 1" with "Karma Cut", any "Harpie Lady", "Harpie Lady 1", "Harpie Lady 2", "Harpie Lady 3", or "Cyber Harpie Lady" cards in the opponent's Graveyard will also be removed from play.

Neo-Spacian Dark Panther: If you target "Cyber Harpie Lady", "Harpie Lady 1", etc., then "Neo-Spacian Dark Panther's" name will just be "Harpie Lady" for the duration of its effect.

Prohibition: "Cyber Harpie Lady" cannot be declared with "Prohibition", because its name is treated as "Harpie Lady". .

The League of Uniform Nomenclature: If you target a "Harpie Lady" on the field equipped with "Demotion", then you can Special Summon monsters that are treated as having the same name, like "Cyber Harpie Lady" or "Harpie Lady 3".
