The monster effect "You can flip this card into face-down Defense Position once per turn during your Main Phase" is an Ignition Effect.: Giant Axe Mummy

The monster effect "If the ATK of a monster on your opponent's side of the field that attacks this card in face-down Defense Position is lower than the DEF of this monster, the attacking monster is destroyed" is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target.)

If at the time damage calculation was performed with a "Giant Axe Mummy" that was in face-down Defense Position when attacked, its DEF exceeds the ATK of the opponent's attacking monster, the effect activates at the end of the Damage Step.

The effect does not activate if the DEF of an attacked and flipped "Giant Axe Mummy

Previously Official Rulings

When a monster with ATK less than "Giant Axe Mummy"s DEF attacks "Giant Axe Mummy", the monster is treated as being destroyed by the effect of "Giant Axe Mummy", NOT "as a result of battle".

Call of the Mummy: When you activate the effect of "Call of the Mummy", you can Special Summon a high-level monster from your hand like "Giant Axe Mummy"

Sasuke Samurai: If "Sasuke Samurai" attacks a face-down monster, apply its effect after entering the Damage Step, but before flipping up the face-down monster. The monster is not flipped. Flip Effects are not activated. "Giant Axe Mummy" do not activate their effects.
