Card Trivia

This Japanese name of this card is a pun on O-mikuji, a Japanese tradition in Lunar New Year. This card was intentionally released on February 11, 2016, during Lunar New Year time. The way this card's effects rely on chance somewhat references the random messages you can get with o-mikuji.
Goblin Calligrapher and the goblins from the artworks of Gift Exchange and Mamemaki appear in this card's artwork.
From left to right, the letters on the strips of paper are : 吉 blessing, 大吉 great blessing, 凶 curse and スカ false. Goblin Calligrapher appears to be giving away his calligraphy which he has dedicated his all to mastering for good luck.

The activation of only the card "Onikuji" can be done at any time, except during the Damage Step.: Onikuji

The effect "Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Your opponent declares 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap). Excavate the top card of your Deck, then if it is that type of card, your opponent draws 1 card. Otherwise, discard 1 random card from their hand. Place the excavated card on the bottom of your Deck" makes a Chain Link. (This effect always activates once per Standby Phase.)

If you activate the card "Onikuji" during your Standby Phase, you can activate its effect in the same Chain Link.

The application of "Your opponent declares 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap)" occurs when "Onikuji" is resolving.

The application of "your opponent draws 1 card" and "discard 1 random card from their hand" are treated as occurring at the same time as the application of "Place the excavated card on the bottom of your Deck".
