This card is the Evil HERO counterpart of Elemental HERO Bladedge as it has the same ATK, DEF, Attribute, and effect as Bladedge plus an additional effect.
It also has the highest ATK and DEF of all non-Fusion Evil HERO monsters.
In terms of Evil HERO monsters with an Elemental HERO counterpart, this is the only one to not have an upgraded version of its counterpart's effect.
Despite being a Fusion Material and weaker version of Evil HERO Malicious Fiend, this monster is more muscular than Malicious Fiend.
As most Evil HERO monsters are based on antiheroes and supervillains, this monster's appearance seems to be based on Marvel Comics antiheroes and X-Men members, Wolverine (Logan) and X-23 (Laura Kinney), due to Malicious Edge's headpiece and claws. Also, Wolverine and X-23 are known to use more brutal methods when dealing with villains compared to the most other X-men and Marvel heroes.
Its effect by being summoned with one Tribute while the opponent controls a monster could also be a reference to how vigilantes and antiheroes often disregard the law or social norms to fight against evil. Traditional superheroes (usually) uphold and respect the law while vigilantes just use whatever means necessary to bring a villain to justice.

You can activate "Intercept" when a Level 7+ monster is Normal Summoned with only 1 Tribute.: Can "Intercept" be activated in response to the Normal Summon of a Level 7+ monster with 1 Tribute, like "Majestic Mech - Goryu"?
Example: When "Evil HERO Malicious Edge" or "Majestic Mech - Goryu" is Normal Summoned, you can activate "Intercept
If your opponent controls only 1 monster and you activate “Soul Exchange”, selecting that 1 monster as the target, after resolving “Soul Exchange” you can Tribute that 1 monster to Tribute Summon“Evil Hero Malicious Edge” (You would not need to Tribute an additional monster).
