Card Trivia

This card has the highest original ATK and DEF among Fiend-Type monsters in the OCG/TCG.
This card's TCG name, Dystopia, is the opposite of the TCG name of Number 39: Utopia, in a similar vein to how its OCG name, Anti-Hope, is the opposite of the OCG name of Utopia, Hope. Additionally, Despondent in this card's TCG name means having lost any hope, and which is also evocative of its OCG name, Anti-Hope.
This card's OCG/TCG artwork is taken from , specifically from the panel showing this monster being Summoned.

"Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand or Graveyard) by sending 4 face-up Level 1 monsters you control to the Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways." is not treated as a monster effect. (It is a procedure to Special Summon a Special Summon Monster. Special Summoning this way does not start a Chain Link.): Dystopia the Despondent

"Dystopia the Despondent" can be Special Summoned using this procedure from the hand or Graveyard. After it is Special Summoned, if it is sent to the Graveyard, it cannot be Special Summoned with "Monster Reborn".

If "Dystopia the Despondent" was sent from the Deck to the Graveyard with "Foolish Burial", you can Special Summon it using its own procedure.: Can an "Dystopia the Despondent" that was sent to the Graveyard with "Foolish Burial" be Special Summoned?

To Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent", you must send 4 face-up Level 1 monsters you control to the Graveyard.: To Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent", can you use a Level 1 monster whose control was taken with "Mind Control"?: To Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent", can you use a monster whose Level was reduced to 1 by the effect of "Mischief of the Yokai"?: To Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent", can you use a "Jet Synchron" that was Special Summoned by its own effect?: To Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent", can you use Pendulum Monsters?: To Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent", can you use Token Monsters?
If you take control of a Level 1 monster with a card effect like "Mind Control", that monster can be used to Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent".
If the Level of a monster on the field is reduced to 1 by a card effect like "Mischief of the Yokai", that monster can be used to Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent".
Since a "Jet Synchron" that was Special Summoned by its own effect is banished when it leaves the field, you cannot use it to Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent".
Since Pendulum Monsters are added to the Extra Deck when they are sent from the field to the Graveyard, you cannot use Pendulum Monsters to Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent".
Since Token Monsters cannot be sent to the Graveyard, you cannot use Token Monsters to Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent".

While the effect of "Macro Cosmos" is being applied, since you cannot send monsters to the Graveyard, you cannot Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent".: While the effect of "Macro Cosmos" is being applied, can you Special Summon "Dystopia the Despondent"?

The "Other monsters you control cannot attack." effect is a Continuous Effect.

If the effect of "Dystopia the Despondent" is negated by "Skill Drain", other monsters you control can attack. (When the effect of "Skill Drain" stops applying, the effect of "Dystopia the Despondent" starts applying again.): While you control "Dystopia the Despondent", if "Skill Drain" is activated, can other monsters you control attack?

This effect of "Dystopia the Despondent" affects monsters you control. If the effect of "Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora" is applied on a monster, since that monster is unaffected by other monsters effects, that monster can attack.: While you control "Dystopia the Despondent", if the effect of "Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora" is applied on a monster, can that monster attack?

While this effect is being applied, even if a monster is Summoned after the Special Summon of "Dystopia the Despondent", that monster still cannot attack.: Can monsters Summoned after the Special Summon of "Dystopia the Despondent" attack?

If you control 2 "Dystopia the Despondent", their effects are applied, and they cannot attack.: If you control 2 "Dystopia the Despondent", can you attack?

The "During either player's Battle Step, once per battle involving this card: You can banish 1 Level 1 monster from your Graveyard; until the end of the Damage Step, this card is unaffected by other cards' effects, also it cannot be destroyed by battle." effect is a Quick Effect. (It does not target. Banishing 1 Level 1 monster from your Graveyard is a cost to activate this effect.)

This effect can be activated once per Battle Step when "Dystopia the Despondent" attacks, or when it is attacked by an opponent's monster. Therefore, if "Dystopia the Despondent" is attacked by multiple monsters during the same Battle Phase, its effect can be activated once during each Battle Step.: If "Dystopia the Despondent" battles multiple times during the same turn, can its effect be activated during each Battle Step?

After the effect of "Dystopia the Despondent" is activated during the Battle Step, if a replay occurs and the attack is cancelled, the effect is no longer applied.: After the effect of "Dystopia the Despondent" is activated, if a replay occurs and the attack is cancelled, what happens?

When resolving this effect, if "Dystopia the Despondent" is in face-down Defense Position, the effect is not applied.: If "Book of Moon" is activated in a Chain to the effect of "Dystopia the Despondent", what happens?
