Card Trivia

This monster appears in the artwork of Cyber Repair Plant and Cyber Network.
This card has a retrained counterpart: Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon.
This card has a similar counterpart, Chimeratech Overdragon.
Both this monster and Chimeratech Overdragon are based on the Chimaera, a mythical beast who had three heads; that of a dragon, lion, and goat. More recently, 'chimaera' refers to the idea of combining things that occur naturally, much like both monsters are fused from varying Machine-Type monsters.
This monster's body appears to be made of nine portals. Each portal seems to produce the head of a Cyber Dragon, likely referencing the fact it gains 1000 ATK per monster during Fusion. Including the mouth, this would allow the dragon to have ten heads, likely referencing the number of monsters that can be on both sides of the field at once (until the introduction of Extra Monster Zones in Master Rules 4).
The maximum ATK this card can reach with its effect is 13000. This is achievable with an active DNA Surgery set to Machine and twelve monsters, including Relinquished, or a similar monster, equipped with Cyber Dragon.
This is the first Fusion Monster Special Summoned by Contact Fusion whose Fusion Materials do not have to originate from the side of the field of the player conducting the Contact Fusion.

You cannot Special Summon this card from the Extra Deck, except by the method written on the card.: Chimeratech Fortress Dragon

You may Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" with "Call of the Haunted" or "Dimension Fusion" only if it was properly Special Summoned beforehand. If it was sent directly from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard, then it cannot be Special Summoned.: Can "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" be Special Summoned by "Premature Burial", "Dimension Fusion", etc?

The effect which alters its ATK is a Continuous Effect. The other effects are not treated as effects.

A Fusion Material Monster is a monster written on the card of a Fusion Monster, and which is needed to Special Summon or Fusion Summon the monster from the Extra Deck. Because of this, you cannot send "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" from your field to the Graveyard to Special Summon another "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" from your Extra Deck, since you are still using "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" as a Fusion Material Monster.: Please explain about Fusion Material Monsters.

If "DNA Surgery" turns "Vanity's Fiend" into a Machine, you still cannot Special Summon, so you cannot send "Vanity's Fiend" to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon".: Can "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" be Special Summoned by sending "Vanity's Fiend" which is a Machine-Type Monster to the Graveyard?

You may send "Cyber Dragon" equipped to "Relinquished" to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon". If a Machine-Type Monster is equipped to "Relinquished", you cannot send it to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon", since while equipped to "Relinquished" monsters do not have Types.: Can "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by sending to the Graveyard a Monster Card which is being treated as an Equip Card?

When "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" is flipped face-down, removed from play, sent to the Graveyard or otherwise no longer face-up on the field, its ATK will be 0. Even if it returns to being face-up on the field, its ATK will remain 0.: When "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" is flipped face-down or removed from play, what happens to its ATK?

If "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" is affected by "Skill Drain", then "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" will have 0 ATK, even if "Skill Drain" is later removed.: When "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" is affected by "Skill Drain", what happens to its effect?

For "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon", "This card cannot be used as a Fusion Material Monster." is not an effect, so it will not be negated by "Skill Drain". You cannot use "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" as a Fusion Material Monster under any circumstance.

Monster Tokens cannot be sent to the Graveyard, since they disappear when they are removed from the field. Thus, they cannot be sent to the Graveyard as a Fusion Material Monster to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon".: Can Machine-Type Monster Tokens be sent to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon"?

You can Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" by sending to the Graveyard monsters which are being treated as Machines by "DNA Surgery".: If a monster becomes a Machine-Type Monster by "DNA Surgery", can it be used as a Fusion Material Monster for "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon"?

You can send to the Graveyard a face-down "Cyber Dragon" or face-down Machine-Type Monsters from your side to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon". You cannot send face-down monsters on your opponent's field, since you do not know that they are of the proper Type.: When Special Summoning "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon", can face-down monsters be sent to the Graveyard?

When the effect of "Macro Cosmos" etc is applied, cards are not sent to the Graveyard, and directly removed from play. "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" cannot be Special Summoned if "Macro Cosmos" is active, since you cannot send cards to the Graveyard.: When the effect of "Macro Cosmos" is active, can "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck?

When Special Summoning "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon"/"XYZ-Dragon Cannon"/etc, you cannot use "Goddess with the Third Eye" etc as a Fusion Substitute Monster.: Can "Goddess with the Third Eye" be sent to the Graveyard when Special Summoning "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon"?

You can send "Cyber Dragon" and/or Machine-Type Monsters on your opponent's field the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon". You can Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" by sending only your opponent's monsters to the Graveyard.: Can you Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" by sending monsters on your opponent's field to the Graveyard?

The ATK gained by "Turret Warrior" is based on the monster's ATK after it is Tributed. If a "Evil HERO Dark Gaia" or "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" under the effect of "DNA Surgery" is Tributed, ? ATK is treated as 0 ATK, so "Turret Warrior" will have 1200 ATK.: When the ATK of "Turret Warrior" is raised, the increase is the monster's ATK at what time?

When a Pendulum Monster would be sent from the field to the Graveyard, it is placed face-up in the Extra Deck instead. It is not possible to send a Pendulum Monster to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon"; therefore, you cannot use "Timegazer Magician" being treated as a Machine-Type monster and "Cyber Dragon" to Special Summon it.: If "Timegazer Magician" is treated as a Machine-Type monster because of "DNA Surgery", can it and "Cyber Dragon" be sent to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon"?
