This effect activates if the attacked Defense Position monster is in face-up Defense Position or in face-down Defense Position. Furthermore, if a face-down Defense Position monster is destroyed by this effect, since it is treated as being destroyed while it is still face-down, Trigger Effects of Flip monsters are not activated.
